We encourage you to dress comfortably - that doesn’t mean jeans (please), but for men it could be khakis, linen pants, or tailored shorts, short-sleeved button-up shirts, polos, etc. For women, short or long dresses, skirts, pants are all fine by us.
Terceira tends to be in the 80s in August, but it is right on the water so an ocean breeze can bring the temps down quickly.

We’ve opted for no children at the wedding so that we can enjoy your company. We know traveling internationally means you may have your family with you; children are welcome at our Wednesday welcome reception and the hotel does offer babysitting by contacting their front desk. If you have any questions please reach out to Ellen at the bottom of this page (we want you to be there so we’ll do what we can!).

If you are already coming all the way to the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, your presence is our present! Please do not bring a gift.
-
No, you do not! The hotel is lovely: it has an indoor and outdoor pool, a sauna and hammam, tennis courts, laundry service, and one of the island’s best buffet brunches (included for guests).
That said, there are plenty of AirBnBs in the area - “downtown Angra” is about a 10-15-minute walk from the hotel and has many cute apartments available. Please keep in mind August is peak season in Terceira so book as soon as you are able!
-
That depends on what you want to do. If you plan to stay in or near the hotel and spend your time in downtown Angra and the hotel area (pool/ocean swimming/walking/shopping) - a car is not necessary!
If you would like to venture to the natural pools, the volcanos, Serra do Cume, Mont Brazil, explore the forest areas, etc. - you will definitely want a car. CarJet offers the best prices we have found.
-
Please indicate on your RSVP if you have a food allergy or restriction and we will work with our wedding planner and the hotel to ensure you have an appropriate meal.
Cuisine in Terceira is heavily focused on seafood and beef, but there are vegetarian-friendly options!
For other events we have listed - we will communicate any dietary needs to those restaurants as best we can & ensure you are fully informed about what is available.
-
Joe & Ellen will be in Terceira Saturday August 15 through Sunday August 23.
The local Festas Santo Antonio (in Posto Santo, where Joe’s parents have their second home) is held August 13 through 18 and includes events like:
Homemade go-kart race
Bull fights & baby bull fights
Live music & DJs
Traditional parades
It is one of the best ways to experience the local culture and we will be there for much of those events for anyone who wants to come along!
-
If you are interested in any specific activity or restaurant - please reach out to Ellen (email at bottom left of this site), or see the travel links on the homepage to explore what’s available and/or book directly. We are happy to provide recommendations!
